We all know that the main engine of diesel pellet machine is the diesel engine, so when you purchase a diesel pellet machine, it’s significant to operate the diesel engine correctly to make sure the use, adjustment and maintenance of the engine, this explain is only applied to the R180 diesel engine. And the structure of the engine will be improved as the development of the technology, so if you want to purchase this model, please identify the parts name, factory serial number and so on. Here is the explanation of operating diesel engine, in the future, we will talk about maintenance of diesel engine.
Operation of the diesel engine
Preparation before operation
- Turn off the oil cock, add the clean diesel oil into the engine, CC10W/40 in summer and CC10W/30 in winter.
- Check the oil level, which should be between the upper marked line and lower marked line, like Fig. 1. An over-high oil level will cause the oil overflow, or even cause the engine runaway, while an over-low oil level will burn the bearing shell as the incensement of oil temperature. After checking, tighten the oil tank cock.
- Open the fuel tank, pour into clean diesel oil. The diesel should be thoroughly precipitated at least 50H, and all the implements must be clean.
- Loosen the fuel tank cock or the screw on the injection pump to let the air in the supply pipe expel completely, then retighten.
- Pour cooling water into the hopper till the float rise up, like Fig 2, simultaneously, close the outlet valve. It is recommended to use clean soft water, as rain water. In case of using well water, spring water or other kind of hard water which contains large quantity of mineral matters, it must be intenerated. The simplest way is seething the water and depositing. Also you can add CaO into the water. First, put the CaO into water, then filtrate the dreg, put the filtrate into water again, late add 10 gram soda.
- Let the governor lever at STOP position. Loosen the decompression lever and crank the engine till the oil indicator float rise up. If the float fails to rise up after continuous cranking, it is advisable to screw off the oil indicator seat and add some oil into the pump, and then crank the engine again. While add oil, it is better to turn the flywheel reverse for quickly adding the oil.
Starting
- Set the speed-governor lever at the middle position.
- Open the decompression lever with your left hand and crank the engine with your right hand. When hear the sound, improve the cranking speed and loosen your left hand suddenly, continue to crank the engine till it start. (Fig.3)
- Caution: after engine start running, the starting handle with slip out automatically. So do not loosen your hand immediately after the engine running.
- Under low temperature, add a little oil into the inlet pipe or add some hot water into the hopper, then start the engine.
Running
- Move the speed-governor lever toward to deceleration direction and let the engine run at low speed for several minutes.
- Check the oil indicator, run the engine until the oil pressure become normal. If the oil indicator float does not rise up, stop the engine immediately and check.
- Be sure that the sound and smoke color of the engine should be normal. No leakage of oil, water and gas, then increase the running speed gradually.
- During the running period, check the oil level, fuel and water capacity periodically.
Stopping
Unload the engine and slow down the engine gradually. Run the engine at low speed for several minutes and then set the speed-governor lever at STOP position. Then shift the speed-governor level to speed-up position and turn the decompression handle and hold it, crank the engine several revolutions, release it, crank the engine until you fail to crank it any more, the valve is closed them.
Storage
If the diesel engine needs to be stored for a long time, do the following things:
- Drain out the oil, cooling water and fuel thoroughly while the engine is still hot. Wash the engine block with clean diesel and clean the oil filter.
- Dismantle the intake pipe and pour some dehydrated oil into the inlet port. Rotate the flywheel to make the oil attach on the surface the valve, cylinder liner and piston, this can prevent these parts from rustiness.
- Remove oil and water stain, dust from the outer surface of the engine. Those unpainted parts should be use antirust.
- Turn the flywheel to TDC.
- Do not use antirust on rubber and plastic components.
- Wrap the air filter and muffler with plastic.
- The engine should be placed in a ventilated, clean and no corrosive area.
